Atlantic Brant Decoy
"Dude" Crane, Tuckerton, NJ, Ca. 1930

Hover over image for more detail. Click to magnify.

Hollow carved decoy with tack eyes in excellent original paint. Just light wear. Crane is well-known for his geese; this is the first brant decoy I have seen. All of Crane's decoys have a rasp finished surface before painting to cut glare.

Crane's decoys were originally thought to be made by Lou Barkelow. This brant is ex. Noyes Museum and carries its collection stamp on its base. It was deaccessioned by Richard Bourne in 1988.

20 1/2" long
