A Swimming Eider Hen Decoy
Williiam Rowlings, Musquodoboit Harbor, Nova Scotia, ca. 1920
Hover over image for more detail. Click to magnify.
A sculptural carving in excellent original paint with minor flaking on its back. Interestingly, the carved Nova Scotia paddle tail is applied rather than the more typical one-piece construction.
See Guyette's "Decoys of Maritime Canada," page 92, for a similar merganser hen by Rowlings.
18" long.
