A roughly half size decoy in strong original paint with minor wear. Small tail chip repair; neck filler is replaced. Only a handful are known. This exact decoy is illustrated in our "Mason Decoys" book, page 171.

We describe this "decoy" as, "Another fascinating method Mason used to promote their high grade decoys was to provide salesman's samples that clearly showed the high quality of the product, but at a greatly reduced size." Some of these small samples were later used as decoys; this one shows only shelf wear on its bass.
