A fat-bodied "beetle head" with carved split tail in strong original paint with its original bill. Small scuffs on both sides of its crowned head.

Ex. McCleery collection and so stamped.

William Mackey had a nearly identical plover in his collection. In his book, Mackey writes, "Bronsdon could whittle a fine plover but was unable to do it justice when it came to painting." Mackey's example was carved by Bronsdon, but painted by Elmer Crowell.
