About New Jersey and Delaware River Decoys
Many decoys were made for hunting on both sides of New Jersey. Most are hollow-carved with simple paint patterns. Delaware River decoys are a bit more stylistically carved with more paint detail, perhaps because they were used in fresh water.

Large hollow decoy in excellent structural condition with poured lead inset weight. Untouched original paint with a mellow patina.

Hollow carved with the body halves joined by small dowels. Strong original paint with minor flaking. Thin age shrinkage neck crack. Original pad weight. Exact decoy pictured in Fleckenstein's "New Jersey Decoys," page 28.
